Better graphics than NWN, more items and weapons for the Aurora Toolkit, more races and customization options ... worse game. From Obsidian, the same studio that made Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, with the same feeling that the game is over-revised technically and yet under-done narratively.

The city of Neverwinter doesn't even kind of look the same, either, and it didn't burn down so badly in the first game that there should be a lake in it now, and Lord Nasher Alagondar doesn't look like any depiction of him in any previous game or tabletop supplement.

The kindest thing I can really say is that this is one of the best sequels to a great game for someone who never played the original; the revised graphics and interface might feel better to a new player than the older one, but at what cost? At what cost.
