Aftermath is a game that suffers greatly for its developer-intended similarity to X-Com. On its own, it's a good game, maybe even a great game, that simply fails to live up to the nostalgia-infused expectations of the X-Com fans. Of course ... without X-Com, this game wouldn't have sold even the copies it did.
All told: fun game, with flaws and foibles numerically similar to, but thematically different from, X-Com's. Worth the cost if you can find it cheap - the UFO: A* trilogy can be found on Direct2Drive I think for about $25.
